Where To Stay
We stayed at Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge. I thought this was a really nice hotel and a great value for the stay. When we arrived they had our names on a chalkboard to welcome “their new guests.” I thought that was such a nice touch, because they really cater to each individual person and make you feel at home. When staying here you get your own little villa, with an outdoor shower- everything felt very luxe. There’s a rooftop restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat, hiking trails on site, pools, and a concierge to arrange any activities you want.
What To Do
One of my favorite things that my husband and I did was this St. Herman’s Cave Tubing Adventure. You take about a 10 minute hike before entering the caves and you get to hear about the history and take in the views. I won’t spoil the tour for you, but the history was very intriguing and really gave a different perspective of Belize’s past.
There are also a variety of other tours that I think are intriguing. I’ve put together a list of the tours that are actually worth booking – you can check out with the link below. Keep in mind after booking your hotel you can go to Sleeping Giant’s website and look at tours they offer and fill out your booking details and they can arrange a variety of tours for you too. This is something that can be done on site, but be weary, because these tours book up quick.

About Us
Key Takeaways Belize is a beautiful country. This hotel was amazing and so accommodating. If I were to visit again, I wouldn’t search for any alternatives, I’d immediately rebook this hotel, and take way more photos. One thing that was very sad to see was the immense poverty in the surrounding area. It’s sad to see these tourist places that charge so much money surrounded by these areas where people are living in poverty. Because of this one thing I did was overtip everyone. The average monthly salary of someone in Belize is less than $500 USD. Taking that into consideration if you and a friend take multiple excursions, you are spending about 1 month’s salary maybe even more. Please be sure to be generous. What can easily be replaceable for you can be life changing for someone else.
